I made this embroidery in 1978 for my mother, who died soon after. I hung it in my living room. When we moved, I noticed it had become dirty. You knowwhat happened when I tried to wash it. What are these Color Catcher sheets?

I also enjoy Blackwork samplers. I have some like yours – all in black but I also have been trying working the patterns in color and especially with shaded thread. The subtle color change effect that produces is nice. I have finished a cross stitch project with large background space and am looking for some type of fill stitch that would lend itself to the feel of sky or clouds. Thanks for your post! I love your stitches!

I agree about their being so few decent cross stitch kits, if i do X stitch i generally pick abstract stuff (or try and convert it to another medium). and I too love blackwork, even though it makes my hands hurt. Right now I’m being inspired by Islamic patterns.
